Bells Secondary School, Ota emerged winners of the maiden Schools Cycling Challenge. The challenge which was also hosted by Bells Secondary School, Ota, featured three main events – Time Trials, Point Race and Obstacle Course.

The event which was organized by the African Cycling Foundation (ACF) recently was keenly contested for by young cyclists from private secondary schools in Ogun State.

While Bells emerged winners with five gold, three silver and two bronze medals, Good Shepherd School was first runner-up with three gold, three silver and two bronze. Acada Secondary School had two gold and two bronze medals.

An outstanding athlete at the fete was Temitayo Bankole from Good Shepherd School who won three gold medals, the highest haul of medals by an individual athlete.

The President of ACF, Yemi Osilaja, said the one-day event would be held annually to highlight cycling as a universal sport and create public awareness about its health and wellness benefits.

A similar event will be held in Lagos on 27 September 2017.
