It is a very good thing and a blessing to have our parents and or grandparents with us in their old age, living healthy and strong lives. The challenge often is that Old People are not usually strong or healthy. So last July, ACF in partnership with Winiseph Care Home Lagos, organized a Trishaw Ride for the old to boost their physical, social and mental wellbeing.

A way to support the wonderful work Winiseph Care Home is doing to promote the health and social wellbeing of senior citizens on a day-to-day basis, and short stay residential care for the elderly in a friendly and supportive environment.

To support them ACF invited 10 senior citizens to an outdoor ride in the Trishaw. The image of these old ones engaging in a ride at the mall attracted so much attention. Each person was accompanied in the Trishaw ride with their caregiver as they took turns to be ridden inside the Ikeja City Mall.

The impact was instantaneous as we witnessed increased energy and activity among the octogenarians, therefore adding to the statistics of healthy people in their old age in Africa.

ACF continues to support healthy living in old age on the African continent and beyond by promoting healthy mobility options such as cycling. In addition, there were songs, dance, and refreshments for everyone present.
